In order to respond to peer feedback I've looked to combine colours used within the initial pattern (see figure 1) designs to create a more gender neutral pattern. Combing the two was suggested as the pastel colour have a closer connotation with skincare but look quite feminine whereas the brighter primary colours are more masculine. Incorporating the two has proven difficult as the use of pastels within most patterns creates quite a feminine association, which I've tried to counteract through the use of yellows, oranges and reds (see figure 2 -3) as these tend to have limited gender connotations. However the use of red within the pattern creates a harsh contrast against the pastels (see figure 3), therefore a pinker red was used however this further adds to the feminine associations rather than creating a more neutral aesthetic (see figure 4). It was also suggested within peer feedback to try brighter more fluorescent colours (see figure 5) to see how these work within the patter. Although they have less gender connotations, they fail to communicate a skincare brand, as paired with the block type the pattern looks more club poster inspired rather than skincare brand (see figure 6).
