COP Practical: Prototypes

In order to see which design was most successful and legible with the use of the pattern, prototypes where created to see how each design looks in physical form. This allowed issues to be identified that had been missed on screen such as some miss alignment of text (see figure 1), as 'cleanser' slightly left align rather than being central to 'HEKA'. In relation to the use of outline, this has work surprisingly well however the type does get slightly lost against the pastel pink when photographed (see figure 2) but when physically held can be read easily. The use of filled text allows the product name to stand out much more easily than the outline, which is also aided by the incorporation of a box to block off the patter (see figures 3-4). Furthermore it was difficult to identify a system by which each product could be distinguished therefore the use of s single line within the packaging which would correlate to the bottle was used (see figures 5-6). However when printed the line looks like a continuation of the pattern rather that standing out itself (see figure 5). The use of lines on the bottle works well however experimentation is needed to see how text could be added, if needed. Despite the use of the line on the box packaging being unsuccessful I plan to develop the use the lines on the bottle further as this is quite interesting adding another dimension to the packaging (see figure 7).

Feedback will be gained in order to choose a final design that can be refined further as the current packaging is quite limited, therefor peer feedback will be gained in order to identify areas of development.
