In order to start generating ideas for Heka (gender neutral skincare brand), the origin of the god and meanings associated with Heka where explored (see figures 1-3). This lead to some interesting facts such as Heka, the god of magic and medicine was seen as an incredibly powerful figure whom the ancient Egyptians thought was present at the point of creation, leading Heka to expressed through the heart and tough. He was so powerful that he was often written emblematically using the hieroglyph for power (see figure 4), which could be interesting to explore. Heka is also referred to as 'Lord of the Kas', with Ka being one of the nine parts of the soul, with Heka being linked to the part of the soul that travels between earth and heaven. Many ancient Egyptians expressed/followed Heka through magic as this was an individual way to communicate with the god.
The most interesting idea found within this research is the expression of Heka through the heart and tough which could be developed to produce some interesting visuals depending on how feminine they appear, as hearts are closing associating with care and nurturing which are stereotypes associated with women.
